Ornithology Field Meeting 10th June 2010

Weather: Cool, windy, rain later.

Itinerary & Notes:
Outward route followed the Riverside Path, returned along the Solent Way. Long stretches of board-walk keep the riverside paths reasonably dry, but the clay soil holds water and puddles develop quickly.

There is a variety of habitats - field paths, hedgerows, woods, river, and reed beds. Each attracts its special species.

At Bucklers Hard we took a 30 minute river cruise.

Fledglings:
Tits and Greenfinches were observed feeding their young. Mute Swans with seven cygnets swam on the river.

Total number of species seen (seen on 7th and 11th June as well) was 35, as detailed below:
